Steve Chen

I'm a product designer with over a decade of experience across companies of all sizes, from early-stage startups to industry leaders like Meta, LinkedIn, and Intuit. I work across strategy, interaction, and visual design to craft scalable, human-centered experiences, focusing on reliable execution that drives real results whether I am building AI-powered tools or cutting operational overhead.

Outside of work, I'm a builder at heart who loves working with my hands. You'll usually find me tinkering with electronics and machines, working on my vintage cars and road bicycles, hanging out with my dog Bruno at the dog parks, or exploring new food and coffee spots around the Sacramento area.

Let's chat about how we can build something great together.

Craft beyond the screen

This fully restored 1990 VW GTI features a meticulous VR6 engine swap, keeping factory integration seamless. Every single screw, bracket, and part is period-correct and meticulously sourced.

This 1983 Pinarello restoration, brought back from a rusted red frame and built from the ground up. I sourced all original parts from Italy, polished every piece of metal, and custom-finished the frame in pearl white. Finished with unique personal touches, including hand-painted pantographed logo inlays.

Saved from the donation pile and brought back from heavy rust. Here is a close-up look at a vintage French track frame during the restoration process, with dropouts being cleaned and prepped for primer. Built out with period-correct components.
